Douglas airfield lies 6Km north east out of town and is a private owned airfield. Has an asphalt runway 1.5km long and 20m wide. We have three hangars to our disposal and have a club house and ablution blocks. The hangars all have electricity and ample water (from the Vaal and Orange River where they both meet.) |

The town itself is a green patchwork of dramatic contrast - space for the solitary and activity for the energetic. Douglas is divided in three sections or locations named Bongani, Breipaal and Douglas.

A South African glider pilot licence validation will be arranged at Gariep after a successful check flight and short test paper. You must have a valid licence and medical from your home country, and this must cover the type that you intend flying at Gariep. We cannot upgrade licences, only validate existing ones. Visiting pilots must have done some gliding in the last few months,
