ABANCIDOU LODGE & RESTAURANT

Under new management, this lodge is also located up town and has 22 two-bedroom units with inter-leading bathroom or shower, some with 1 double bed and two singles, others with four singles, inexpensive and very basic, and no meals. Facilities include pool table, TV lounge, barbecue area and parking outside your room. There is now a large dining room with bar service.

FOREVER RESORTS GARIEP

This is an attractive chalet village set in picturesque surroundings next to the lake. Under new management, this resort comprises 44 self-catering chalets sleeping four or six persons with 2 and 3 bedrooms respectively. Each chalet has barbecue facilities, TV, microwave oven, air conditioning and refrigerator. A restaurant and shop is situated at the main gate. Recreational facilities include boating, large swimming pool, tennis courts, miniature golf, 9 hole golf course, fishing and lovely walks.

All bookings must be made directly to Aventura Resort Gariep at Tel (051) 754 0045 or Fax (051) 754 0135. After a booking has been confirmed, a deposit of 100% must be paid within 10 days to secure the reservation.

These special rates are applicable to a continuous stay only 10 Two Bedroom Chalets have been set aside for glider pilots, but half these will be released to the general public on 30 September. GARIEPDAM HOTEL

Located on the hill, this 3- star hotel offers a magnificent view of the lake and surrounding countryside. There are 23 air-conditioned double rooms with twin beds, bathroom en suite, TV and large balcony. There is a fully licensed a-la-carte restaurant and a large swimming pool and tennis court complex within a 5 minute walk. Lunch packs can be provided for glider pilots on request.

GREATHEAD LODGE

The elegant double storeyed house situated on the farm Van Wyksfontein, is nestled against protective Karoo koppies. The house built in 1870 is 28km north of Colesberg.The Greathead Lodge offers more than just an overnight stop. ORANGE RIVER GAME & GUEST FARM

Located 15 minutes along the N1 highway, this newly renovated lodge has a dozen luxury doublerooms, undercover parking, swimming pool, large dining room and bar. Beautifully furnished and styled in old Cape Dutch, the farm stretches down to the Orange River a few kilometers away and is the home of numerous wild antelope and birds. Horse riding and guided nature walks over the Karoo bush veld are on request.

RAPTOR RIDGE GAME LODGE

This new thatched lodge is located next to the Gariep Dam Nature Reserve, overlooking Lake Gariep. It is 5km from the airfield along the Bethulie Road. There are 6 double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, with viewing decks. There is a cosy restaurant , game drives, lake cruises, shuttle service to the airfield, etc.

Waschbank lodge is situated on the Orange River about 7km from the airfield. The following rates will be offered to glider pilots booking before 1 November 2004.

Bed & Breakfast:

Self-Catering:
R 300.00 pps (minimum of four persons per unit) alternatively R 1600.00 per unit. Self-catering units can sleep 6 to 8 (max 10) persons and are equipped with a full kitchen and braai facilities.

A full buffet dinner will be served every evening during December and January. Arrangements can be made for special functions. We offer traditional and international cuisine on request and have the best wine collection the region can offer.

Guest houses and garden flats

In the village there are several fully equipped 2 or 3-bedroomed self catering guest houses, some with air-conditioning. You need take only your food, but some do provide breakfast.
They are ideal if you want a quiet place with a shady private garden. These houses sleep four to six people and include bedding, T.V., stove, fridge, etc, are fenced, with lock-up garages and with their own barbecue facilities.

BETS GUESTHOUSE

Bets Roothman has several guest houses in Gariep Dam. Two are available for this season. One house sleeps 6 persons, and a flat sleeps 4.

The rates are R350 per night per house and R250 per night per flat.

ROSE COTTAGE

Rose Cottage is a luxury Self Catering Guesthouse and B&B situated in the sleepy holiday village at the Gariep Dam. It is ideally positioned approximately halfway between Johannesburg and Cape Town and is suitable for either a single night stayover or for the guest wanting to enjoy the superb watersports, yachting and fishing and enjoy a longer stay.

Rose Cottage is divided into three separate structures, one being a very modern self catering "Granny Flat" that sleeps 2 named "Rooibekkie" and the main guest house with 2 rooms and sleeper couch named "Hammerkop" that sleeps 6. And the new "Granny Flat" Swallow which sleeps 4.

New “Lapa” overlooking the pool suitable for having your “nightcap” or evening meal. Secure parking for vehicles. Lovely braai area and a small pool in a fully enclosed grassed back yard. Lots of trees and places to sit and relax. Bird feeding at 5 p/m daily. Breakfast is optional and should be arranged when you check into the cottage. This is a self standing Granny flat which is able to sleep up to four guests. It has an open plan lounge and Kitchenette that includes a sleeping area with two new “Simonz” beds with a brand new Samsung air conditioner.

Guests are met at the viewpoint on the Gariep Dam wall or Shell Garage and escorted to the cottage by resident manager.

Airfield:

Campers and caravans are welcomed on the airfield. There are ample new gas heated shower facilities, a laundry room and a 220vac solar power supply for battery charging and powering small refrigerators. A night watchman is on site continuously, and there are no wild animals to disturb you! We add a charge of R60 per tent per night onto your membership account. No pre-booking is necessary. Just advise our secretary when you arrive.

Bunkhouse
A large room in the terminal building houses 4 beds, cupboard, table and chairs. Bring you own sleeping bag. Next to the room are hot showers, laundry and close by is the club kitchen. The price is R60 per night per person.
